At Self Made Psychology, we offer evaluations to support access to gender-affirming medical care, including hormones, surgeries, and puberty blockers.
The goal of the evaluation is not to gatekeep but to help you access the care you need in a way that aligns with current medical guidelines and insurance requirements.

After reaching out to us, we’ll schedule an evaluation session with a clinician who is experienced in working with trans and gender-diverse clients.
The session is usually about 60–75 minutes and focuses on understanding your gender journey, goals for medical care, current supports, and any concerns you may have. For youth, we also meet with caregivers as part of the process.
If gender-affirming care is clinically appropriate and aligned with your goals, your clinician will write a letter of support that meets WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) and/or insurance requirements.
You'll have the opportunity to review the letter before it’s finalized. We can send it directly to your provider, give it to you to share, or both—whichever you prefer.
Our evaluation process is neurodiversity-affirming, collaborative, and designed to provide meaningful insight—not just a diagnosis.
We recognize that many people, especially those who are queer, trans, or marginalized, have had their experiences misunderstood or overlooked in traditional mental health settings.
Our assessments aim to offer clarity, validation, and practical guidance for moving forward.

Standardized tests are conducted by you, caregivers, and sometimes teachers. These are paired with clinical interviews that assess developmental history, current functioning, sensory experiences, social/emotional patterns, and executive functioning.
We review results together, answer questions, and work together on next steps.
You will recieve a written report that includes diagnostic impressions (if applicable), strengths, challenges, and individualized recommendations
You may benefit from an assessment. Whether you’re exploring a formal diagnosis for the first time, seeking reevaluation, or looking for documentation for support services, we’re here to help you feel seen and understood.
